Sweet May

Is anyone else surprised it's already May? While April flirts with spring, poking her head out and then scurrying back in, with light rains that all of a sudden turn into harsh hail or gully washers (does anyone use that word anymore?), May is much more of a lady. There's birdsong in the air, daffodils and the other early bloomers are strutting their stuff, baby bunnies tucked under the edge of the neighbor's hedge row, and sun starved shoulders and legs are exposed for all to see.

All those plans I made for January 1, specifically to redo the file system (halfway done and somewhat abandoned), deal with the evil photo situation (43 years behind and counting), lose 10 lbs, etc. are a bit of a distant memory. As was expected I suppose. (Yes, Cub Sweetheart, you were right.)

May, the glory month of the year in my estimation, only comes once a year, and while she's a lady, she's also fleeting. Once June comes it'll be so hot here in Texas that doing much of anything outdoors will cause a complete melt down, and not the emotional kind.

Mid-June through August is when there will again be time, in the middle of the day, to deal with all those horrible medical files that are ten plus years old, pull out a box of photos to sort and pray more than half of them have red eye or are blurry so I can toss them in the trash. Right now I'm going to make it a priority to spend a portion of every day outdoors, rather than at a desk, or in front of a file drawer, inside.

If you happen to see a pale, slightly pudgy in places woman sitting on a park bench, drinking a root beer float from Sonic, or knitting old lady slippers while she watches the kids asking to be pushed higher and higher, it just might be me. Soaking up May while I can.
