Hawaii - Last one!

This is what we immediately did after we went from the cruise ship to our hotel room in Honolulu. A nap was in order.
We opted for a very small, inside cabin on the cruise, so we went for an ocean view of Waikiki Beach when we chose a hotel.

Interesting contraption in our hotel bathroom. I was a fan. Don never did decide what he thought. They are apparently common in Hawaii.

Sunset, while we sat across the street from the beach eating dinner, was beautiful. All those bodies are hanging out with their boogie board, just waiting for a wave.

Common sight, everyone seemed to have a surfboard.

The water was clear and shallow for a long ways, with a seawall of sorts so families could swim with their small children.

Our view during dinner.

We spent an entire day at Pearl Harbor. This is the monument to the USS Arizona, directly below, with many of the bodies of those who perished that day still in the hull. The water is about 45-55 feet deep where the ship lies. How hard must it have been to lose a son or husband, and leave them there? We were told there were multiple sets of brothers and even one father/son who went down with the ship.

We toured the USS Missouri, climbed all over the battleship, saw below where the sailors ate, slept, worked.

This gold circle on the deck of the USS Missouri marks the spot where the papers were signed to end the war. We were amazed to see how many Japanese toured the ship, and how moved they were to see it all.

A photo taken the day the papers were signed.

The waters of Hawaii are beautiful, many shades of blue, and if you can get above them you can see down so far!

Banyan trees have to be one of the coolest trees ever. They send down vines that attach to the ground and grow more tree. Amazing to see.

A world of outdoor houseplants.

Beautiful sculpture by the beach in Waikiki.

So that's it - our trip to Hawaii. Hope you've enjoyed seeing it through our eyes. If you've never been, go! We've been to over 40 of the states, but this is one not to be missed.
