Preserving tomorrows

This year we won't be getting together to watch little ones hide eggs, then hide them again, and eat chocolate bunnies and carved ham and scalloped potatoes.

This year we will make space between us, hunker down and get through this.

But instead of mourning what we cannot have,

we will go back and remember past times together,

let those stored up memories feed our souls,

knowing right now we are preserving tomorrows for those we hold most dear,

And having missed them for a bit, won't they be all the more precious when they come around again.
